Personal Training

Personal training is now firmly embedded in our lexicon, and for good reason. From the person who does not know a kettle from a kettle bell to the top athletes in every sport, people are benefiting from the expertise of personal trainers. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic you could find personal trainers across the globe continuing to serve their clients using any means possible.

Blue Moon Fitness is intended to serve first time exercisers and those returning to exercise and personal training is something we have made affordable and accessible to our members to help set them up for success in their fitness journey. Do not be intimidated by the thought of working with a personal trainer. Whether you have never stepped foot in a gym, or you are at the top of your game, you can benefit from using a personal trainer. With today’s advances in information, technology, and equipment, a personal trainer can serve as an incredible resource, effectively providing a shortcut for a person’s journey towards success.

To begin the process, request a complimentary fitness assessment with a personal trainer to asses your fitness level and discuss your goals for the sessions. Then, your trainer will develop a workout plan that will allow you to safely and efficiently improve your fitness level and meet your goals.

And if you have bad experiences with assessments in the past, trust that we feel your pain. We have worked very hard to take the personal assessment experience and move it from being as dreaded as a root canal to being more like an opportunity to test drive a Corvette – without the dreaded time-share sales pitch at the end.

Trainers can also provide monthly assessments, dynamic warm-ups, corrective exercises, full body training, metabolic and mobility work. Everything we do for our clients is done with a specific desired result in mind. Whether you are just getting started in the pursuit of your fitness goals or are looking to add some intensity to your current fitness routine, we can help develop a training program for you.

Experience our expertise — the most important goal is to instill self-confidence, self-esteem, and, of course — make sure you have a little fun!

It’s Personal

When you want the best for your health & fitness

A Note on Personal Training From Founder & CEO, Joel Potter

Joel Potter, CEO and founder of Blue Moon Fitness here, and I want to offer a little of my personal perspective on personal training.

But first, a little background.

My first exposure to fitness was as a kid of the 70’s watching my older brother lift weights in our basement. Flimsy plastic weights filled with cement and even flimsier benches were the equipment of the day. I did not start lifting weights until a few years later when I was in the Navy and stuck at a base with little to do.

The base gym was slightly better equipped than the basement gym. There was one selectorized weight machine that we all called a universal machine. Universal was a brand and it was everywhere you could find serious equipment. Today it would be laughed out of most clubs because it was not very sophisticated. But Universal equipment was as high-tech as things got at that time.

What was never present in any facility I worked out in for the first decade of my exercise journey was personal trainers – or cardio equipment. Personal trainers didn’t exist. What we all did was what I refer to as monkey see, monkey do. If someone in the gym was getting good results, most of us tended to copy what that person was doing. This led to some bizarre workouts and even more bizarre diets. But through trial and error we did get results, although very slowly at times.

The closest we could get to using a personal trainer was to find an accomplished lifter as a workout partner. I always tried to find workout partners who were better than me so I could learn and improve. Anyone with more success or experience than me was an upgrade in my mind. My partners varied from enthusiastic beginners to a reigning Mr. America who also happened to be a Type 1 diabetic.

My first exposure to personal trainers was watching accomplished lifters get paid by clients because they had gotten results themselves. No education was necessary. In one instance I was exposed to professional bodybuilders who ran ads in magazines where they offered to sell programs to the uninitiated. Sadly, some of those professionals tore open the envelopes and just kept the funds without doing anything for the consumer who trusted them with their hard-earned money. Others were selling exercise programs that even they did not follow; they had just come up with some shortcut type workout to sell as a gimmick.

That was then and this is now. We now understand that exercise is medicine and can prevent or reversing life threatening disease. We have equipment that is much more innovative and exponentially better designed, with much of it employing the latest and greatest technology available today.

On many levels I am jealous of someone starting their fitness journey today.

We also have personal trainers. A personal trainer could have saved me years of spinning my wheels as I stumbled blindly down my fitness path and helped many of my era avoid completely unnecessary injuries. Look at how much knowledge has changed how football players play, train, and equip themselves compared to the 70s. Heck, most professional football teams did not even allow their players to work with weights during the season, since “everybody” knew weightlifting made athletes slow and musclebound. Much of what was “common knowledge” was wrong.
